Join Wilton Emergency, Inc.
Wilton EMS is a volunteer-based agency with approximately 50 members. Active members are required to serve at least 12 hours a week and attend all mandatory trainings and monthly meetings. Upon joining Wilton EMS, there will be a six month probationary period before coming up for full membership at the vote of the general meeting. No experience is necessary for joining Wilton EMS. Everyone 18 and older is welcome for membership. Wilton EMS will provide new and continuing EMS education to all active members and provide initial training for all new members.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must enroll in NYS Emergency Medical Technician course within first year of membership.
- Be within 10 minutes of the station when on-call.
- Required to volunteer 12 hours a week.
- INCENTIVE PROGRAM:
Wilton EMS volunteers earn points for on-call hours, training, committees, special events, building/grounds maintenance and miscellaneous items. Points may be used to purchase EMS materials or equipment for members in good standing. Six-month probationary members are not eligible for the program; however, points earned during the probationary period will accumulate until the volunteer receives full membership status.
- SERVICE AWARDS PROGRAM:
An active member earning 50 points or more for the year is eligible for the program. To become vested, a member must have 5 years in the program. On reaching age 65, the member can start to collect the monetary benefit.
- VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE WORKERS EXEMPTION:
New York Tax exemption on real property owned by volunteers of Wilton Emergency Squad and must have 5 years of service and live in the town of Wilton to be eligible for the exemption.
- TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:
Wilton EMS members will receive full EMS training upon joining the Squad. Saratoga County EMS offers Emergency Medical Technician-Basic course in the spring and the fall annually and may be sponsored by Wilton EMS.
